About Me

Wife. Daughter. Trekkie. Writer. Bibliophile. Dreamer. Historian. Geek.

That’s me in a nutshell, but I suppose you’re looking for something a little more specific!

My name is Shannon, but many of you will know me as Sanalith. I’m a 30-something from Western New York, where I’ve lived all my life. I have a dual BA in history and journalism, and an MA in history with a concentration in Asian studies. I currently work as an artifact cataloger in a children’s museum, which is basically the best job ever. I live with my wonderful husband and a very spoiled black cat named Artemis.

I’ve been a book lover for as long as I can remember. My parents read to me daily as a child, and that’s a habit I’ve kept pretty much all my life. Reading is a truly magical art form, one that allows us to escape from our own lives, if only for a little while, and be transported to new entirely worlds. As a reader, I’ve lived thousands of lives in countless lands, and knowing that there are an infinite number others just waiting to be explored fills me with an indescribable joy.

In this blog, I’ll talk about what it means to be a true lover of books, how they can change our lives for the better, and why literacy is one of the most important gifts we can give. I’ll also be posting book reviews and recommendations. My favorite book genres include fairytales, fantasy, historical fiction and romance. You’ll also occasionally see some non-fiction, especially biographies of historical figures I love.

If you’re enamored of the written word, I hope you’ll stick with me as we journey through the realm of pure imagination!
